I think Bill is right. I understand that a Bushmaster will come with either an LAR manufactured receiver with a L-serial number, or a Bushmaster manufactured receiver with a BFI-serial number. The Bushmaster manufactured reciever will have a bigger snake logo as well. Personally, I think that the snake on the LAR receiver looks nicer. Serial Number Database Search This database contains the Swiss Schmidt-Rubin straight pull rifles with the corresponding manufacturing years. Please enter the rifle serial number without prefix (ie. Several rifle types may be in the same serial number range. Which Swiss rifle do I have? You own a swiss rifle and don't know the exact. The serial number can be found in many different locations. Typically the serial number can be found on the handle, slide, trigger guard or receiver. There is no typical serial number. For example, a Browning serial number can range in length from eight to ten characters, a Glock number is only five characters long. If you send me us complete serial number we can look it up to determine if it is pre or post ban. Only lower receivers shipped as complete rifles before the Federal Ban of 9-13-94 are pre ban. Some States have Laws that do not allow the pre ban type firearms unless the are true pre ban models manufactured before the Federal Ban such as CT, MA.
